The U.S. Census Bureau produces official population estimates, as of July 1, for each year after the decennial census by age, sex, race, and Hispanic origin for the U.S., states,  and counties/parishes; population totals for all places and minor civil divisions and metropolitan and micropolitan statistical areas are also produced. The Population Estimate Program page provides an estimates release schedule, methodology, how to submit a challenge, and other details regarding the production of population estimates.
